OWNER PROFILE

Neway Packaging was and is an evolving dream of a man named Russell Freebury.

Neway started over thirty years ago in a garage in Torrance, California. Russell realized that being involved in packaging machinery could set him apart from the competition. The early days had Russell wearing many hats: mornings would include unloading trucks by hand, then the rest of the day involved loading product into whatever vehicle was available (either the glamorous station wagon or hatchback 280z), making deliveries and sales calls, purchasing product, and anything else that came up throughout the day. The customer service department and accounting department were handled by the only other employee at the time, wife Carole Freebury.

Within a year Neway was able to relocate to a small 2200 square foot building, this exciting move went hand in hand with the purchase of their first official Neway truck. The roots were firmly set and Neway has continued to grow throughout the years as there are six full service locations in California, Colorado, Washington, Arizona, and Nevada with four sales offices throughout the United States.

Today, Russell Freebury is still at the helm, and as an owner, he knows the ins and outs of every aspect of the company, seeing that at one time or another he did every job. Now, Neway employs 110 people, which makes a much more exciting Holiday Celebration in December compared to Russell and Carole's first party of two.

With a sizable support staff in place Russell is free to pursue his passion for expansion. The dream to be a multi location distributor is an evolving reality.
